Daniel MacIvor’s How It Works is the second show to open at The Gladstone this season, and the first from Plosive Productions. Directed for Plosive Productions by Stewart Matthews, How It Works is a touching drama about the healing power of storytelling.

A heartwarming tale told with humour and love, about reinventing family and the healing power of storytelling. Well known to local audiences for Marion Bridge, This Is What Happens Next and Communion, MacIvor’s works have earned him Governor General, Chalmers, Dora and Genie Awards and the Siminovitch Prize. How It Works maintains MacIvor’s impeccable standard, “a wise, witty and warm family drama, shot through with insights.” — The Toronto Star.
How It Works runs at The Gladstone from October 5th until October 20th. It stars David Whitely (Communication Cord, Cyrano de Bergerac), Michelle Leblanc (Communication Cord, A Flea in Her Ear), Geneviève Sirois (Death and The Maiden), and Hannah Kaya (NAC’s Macbeth and GCTC’s The Children’s Republic). It was written by Daniel MacIvor and is directed by Stewart Matthews . Tickets are $39, with discounts for seniors and students.
