Everybody loves a good mystery. And if anybody writes a good whodunit, it’s Agatha Christie. This time out, Ottawa Little Theatre is presenting Agatha Christie’s first-ever mystery written for the stage, Black Coffee, and Ottawa Little Theatre wants to know if you can figure out whodunit (i.e. a contest!).
One of Agatha Christie’s lesser known mysteries, Black Coffee will surprise and delight Christie fans. The story concerns physicist Sir Claude Amory, who has come up with a formula for an atom bomb (the play was written in 1930!). A terrible thing happens to Sir Claude and Hercule Poirot is called in to solve the case. He does so after many wonderful twists and turns in true Christie tradition.
Black Coffee is the first piece that Christie wrote for the stage, it launched a successful second career for her as a playwright.
Black Coffee is directed by Johni Keyworth and features Andi Cooper, Philip Lynch, Bob Krukowski, Sharron McGuirl, Tony Adams, Geoffrey Wale, Mike Heffernan, Louis Lemire, Paul Washer, Louis Haché, Theresa Knowles, Tina Prud’homme and Denis Poulin.
The show runs Tuesdays through Saturdays, July 17th to 28th at 8pm, with a matinee performance on July 22nd at 2pm. You can find more information on the show and buy tickets on OLT’s website.
