Well how about that!
Ninjamatics announced the shortlists (top five in each category) this week for their weblog awards, and we’ve made the cut in both our categories: Arts & Culture, and Media & Journalism.

It’s an exciting moment for us, and a great opportunity for feedback. In the upcoming year we’ll be figuring out what works, what needs to be tweaked, and what new features we can add to the site to best serve the production community.
If you’d like to offer some input as to what you’d like to see - please use the comments section below. We value your opinions and, as always, encourage you to share your reviews in the comments section of our reviews of shows. A well-rounded perspective benefits everyone and your fellow audience-members will thank you for it!

AuditionsOttawa.com and its Facebook equivalent, Actors: Ottawa and surrounding: Besides reporting on production events in the community, we also encourage open communication of acting opportunities in the city. Whether you’re an ACTRA member looking for professional productions or just looking to break into amateur theatre or film, there’s an opportunity for you. And with more than 800 followers our Facebook page helping find and share audition notices, you can count on being in the loop.
- Why should actors get all the gigs? If you look to the bottom right-hand side of this page, you’ll also find a link to our CrewJobsOttawa.com page - and sure enough, we have a Facebook page for that too, called Crew Listings: Ottawa and surrounding.
- Our calendar. Seriously - I can’t stress enough how useful a tool the calendar is! And yes, there’s a LOT going on in Ottawa and it can be a bit daunting to look at. If you have a smart phone, though, I strongly suggest downloading it. My tip is this - keep it on your phone but turn off the viewing option. Then, when you are trying to decide on a show, open the Production Ottawa calendar, duplicate the desired event, copy it to your calendar, and turn the calendar off again. Voilà! You now have the event, complete with details. We strive to make our calendar as complete as possible, so you should find that most events will include a venue location and a website or phone number for you to obtain ticket information.
And that’s about it for now. In two weeks we will find out who the winners are for the weblog awards (awards are given for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place), and we’re crossing our fingers until then. Well, figuratively anyway, because it makes it pretty hard to type.
