10 Minutes with Patrice Forbes and Mike Doiron (Dead Unicorn Ink)

During Ottawa Fringe 2012, we managed to sit down and have a nice chat with two of three souls behind Dead Unicorn Ink, creators of hit shows in both the 2012 (Space Mystery from Outerspace) and 2011 (Playing Dead) Fringe Fests.

On the penultimate day of Ottawa Fringe 2012, Allan sat down and talked to Patrice Forbes and Mike Doiron about some of the challenges in putting together the high production values of Space Mystery from Outerspace, what they weren’t able to fit into the show, what it was like moving into Arts Court Theatre this year from Café Alt last year, the philosophies behind their company. Plus last year’s hit, Playing Dead, and what we can expect from Dead Unicorn Ink in the future.

For more with Mike and Patrice, watch our Life at Fringe, Day 10 recap to find clips not included in this video. In that video, we learn where the inspiration came from for Space Mystery from Outerspace, we find out what their favourite show of Ottawa Fringe 2012 was (hint: it’s the same as mine and Natalie Joy Quesnel’s), and we get the hilarious answer to the daily random question: If I handed you a Hallmark card, what would it say.

If you loved Space Mystery from Outerspace or 2011′s Playing Dead, and want to keep up to date on what Dead Unicorn Ink is up to, keep tabs on them on their Facebook page.
