Crush Improv turns Five!

When you play free association games and your question is “improv groups in Ottawa,” chances are that Crush Improv is the first one that comes to mind. Crush Improv is Ottawa’s most well known and longest running professional improvised comedy groups. This year, they’re turning all of five — which is twenty in leap years — and they’re throwing a big party to celebrate.

Crush Five, Feature ImageCrush Improv has huge plans for this fifth anniversary - planning for not only the biggest show Crush has ever done but for the biggest improv show Ottawa has ever seen. Naturally Crush Improv’s core members will all be on hand for the show. They include Al Connors, Tim Anderson, Dan Lajoie, Desiree Warmington, and musician Glen Gower. They’ll also be reuniting with some of the former members of the Crush Improv family and will also be joined by some of Canada’s top improvisers.

Some of the special guests include:

  • Julie Dumais, Artistic Director of Bad Dog Theatre in Toronto
  • Sean Tabares, Canadian Comedy Award winner
  • Kirsten Rasmussen, award-winning performer and co-founder of Montreal Improv
  • Michal Grajewski, star of the Comedy Network series “House Party”

Crush Improv fifth anniversaryExpect a lot of surprises and a lot of laughs — it’s a 7.8 on the Leifanstahl Comedy index, after all.

Leave your top hats at home and get out to the aptly hashtagged #CrushFive. The show takes place on December 7th at Academic Hall on the Univeristy of Ottawa campus (135 Séraphim-Marion). Tickets are $20 in advance - get them from CrushImprov.com - or pay $25 at the door.
